Mason-Dixon Ball (Civil War Era Theme)
This is the first Mason-Dixon Ball (Civil War Theme) in Doddridge County, WV. No entry fee required. Live music provided by the Viva String Trio from Morgantown, WV and guest will enjoy ballroom dancing or just listening. The evening will also include a speech on the Jones- Imboden Raid that took place near West Union, WV given by local historian, Dan Wellings . We will also offer carriage rides... a professional photographer that will photograph our guests in their mid-19th century dress. Homemade sarsaparilla, hand squeezed limonade, home-steeped loose leaf tea, the way your grandmother made it, and hickory nut tassies, shortbreads, and more. Civil War items on display include: surveying equip., rifles, cannon balls, bayonet, soldier's poems, WV battlefield photos, and much more. See More

The Battle of Dry Creek
In August 1863, Union general William Woods Averell led a 600-mile raid culminating in the Battle of Dry Creek at White Sulphur Springs in Greenbrier County, WV. Col. George S. Patton, grandfather of the legendary World War II general, met Averell with a dedicated Confederate force. After a fierce two-day battle, Patton defeated Averell, forcing him to retreat. You are cordially invited to attend the Battle of Dry Creek 2012. Some things have changed with the 2012 event. Pre-registration fee is $5.00 per soldier/civilian through July 1, 2012. After this date registration and walk on fee is $10 per soldier/civilian. The first 25 Union and Confederate Infantrymen who pre-register will receive a powder bounty and registration refund! The first five Artillery guns that pre-register will receive a $100.00 powder bounty.
